The relief depicts a dystopian landscape in which hard, alien forms emerge from within a metal frame. Their nature remains indeterminate: they may be remnants of an unknown world, traces of another form of life, or harbingers of something yet to come. The frame marks the boundary between what we know and seek to control and what we are not yet able to recognise. The industrial neon encircling the work heightens the atmosphere of coldness, isolation and expectancy, as though the alien presence might cross that boundary at any moment. The sculpture leaves us suspended between fascination with the unknown and fear of what may come.
